Special thanks to WAYNE NELSON of THE LITTLE RIVER BAND for his BERKLEYHART references. The release of SOMETHING TO FALL BACK ON is the second album of the two musicians and their band. It's music for all the fans of the music from THE REMBRANDTS or THE THORNS. They also will like the fantastic harmonies of BERKLEYHART.

SOMETHING TO FALL BACK ON contains 13 Tracks I've never will be missing in the future. There is no weakly song on this record. BERKLEYHART rocks a little bit harder as THE THORNS. It's handmade music with a lot of acoustic and electric guitars and a great hammond sound in the background. But the best of all is the excellent singing of JEFF BERKLEY and CALMAN HART. They sounds like THE REMBRANDTS or BILLY PILGRIM at their best times.

Every member of the band is a fine musician. Outstanding guitars of JEFF BERKLEY and CALMAN HART and also outstanding hammond and piano of BEN MOORE. CLARK STACER plays a nice grooving bass guitar and BRIAN NUCCI CANTRELL is the drummer with the golden arms. But the most important is the execellent songwriting.

It's not possible for me, to find my favorite song. The song material on this CD is too well (strong). I'm fascinating about the opener COME ON IN with his wonderful instruments and rich harmonies. But the fascinting will go further by another highlight named SOMETHING TO FALL BACK. So much more song highlights will following the next 45 minutes. And when LIFE WON'T WAIT with his CROSBY;STILLS AND NASH feeling comes out of my loutspeakers, I'm in heaven.

SOMETHING TO FALL BACK ON is a masterpiece in todays Roots-and Americana Rock music. 5 excellent musicians plays 13 outstanding songs with so much wonderful harmonies and great instrumental arrangements. SOMETHING TO FALL ON has great chances to be one of my all time favorites.

Dank sei Wayne Nelson von der LITTLE RIVER BAND für seinen Tipp. Durch ihn wurde ich auf das Duo Jeff Berkley und Calman Hart aufmerksam. Die zwei und ihre Band nennen sich schlicht und einfach BERKLEY HART. Mit "Something To Fall Back On" veröffentlichen sie jetzt ihre zweite CD. Musikfans, die an den REMBRANDTS oder der neuen THORNS CD Gefallen finden, werden von den Harmoniegranten BERKLEYHART verzückt sein.

13 Tracks befinden sich auf "Something To Fall Back On". Nicht einen einzigen davon möchte ich missen. Wann kann man das schon einmal von einer CD sagen. Weit und breit kein schwacher Song. Im Vergleich zu den THORNS rocken BERKLEYHART wesentlich mehr. Das ist handgemachte Musik, die von jeder Menge akustischer und elektrischer Gitarren und einer fülligen Hammond geprägt wird. Herausragend ist der Gesang von Jeff Berkley und Calman Hart. Da erinnern sie an die besten Zeiten von den Rembrandts oder Billy Pilgrim.

Die Band ist auf jeder Position ausgezeichnet besetzt. Neben den knackigen Gitarren von Berkley und Hart überzeugen Ben Moore an Hammond und Piano, Clark Stacer am groovenden Bass und Brian "Nucci" Cantrell an seinen voluminösen Drums. Das tolle Songwriting ist das Nonplusultra auf "Something To Fall Back On". Außer zwei Fremdkompositionen von Joel Rafael und J.R. Robertson stammt alles aus der Feder der Beiden.

Es ist nahezu unmöglich, seinen Lieblingssong herauszufinden. Zu stark ist das Material auf dieser CD. Gleich vom Opener Come On In ist man aufgrund seiner perfekten Instrumentierung und seinen prächtigen Harmonien hin und weg. Doch schon der Titelsong Something To Fall Back On reißt einen in den nächsten Harmonie-Sog. Und das geht muntere 45 Minuten so weiter. Neben dem schon erwähnten starken Gesang und den tollen Melodiebögen überzeugen die perfekten instrumentalen Arrangements. Von elektronischen Ohrquälereien weit und breit keine Spur. Und wenn die Band auf Life Won't Wait in bester CROSBY, STILLS und NASH Manier losbrettert, gibt es für mich kein Halten mehr.

"Something To Fall Back On" ist eine rundum perfekte Roots-, Americana- und Rock-Platte. 5 großartige Musiker präsentieren 13 großartige Songs mit satten Harmoniebögen und tollem instrumentalem Background. "Something To Fall Back On" hat große Chancen eine meiner zukünftigen Inselplatten zu werden. Klang und Produktion sind sehr gut.
